Academic institution
From 1998 to 2022, UCLA has generously hosted the CDLI servers and offered technical support at the server level to sustain the initiative. From 2022 to 2026, after the main CDLI servers were moved back to Germany, UCLA redirected the cdli subdomain (cdli.ucla.edu) to the CDLI servers.
The Humanities Division has supported numerous CDLI funding applications, among others, the NEH CDLI Framework Update project and the NEH/SSHRC/DFG Machine Translation and Automated Analysis of Cuneiform Languages project. In particular, the deanship provided a tuition release for student assistants, which made it possible to recruit exceptional computer science students to join our research teams from 2017 to 2020.
Humanities Technology (HumTech) was at the time the technology home for the faculty, staff, and students in the Humanities Division at UCLA. Numerous staff, but especially Daniel Park, have helped design, support and maintain the CDLI network of servers and backups at UCLA.
