The CDLI has moved to a new server
Dear user, the CDLI is now located at https://cdli.earth. Please update your bookmarks and use this new domain name in print.
The 3D viewer was integrated into the new CDLI framework as part of a 2021 Google Summer of Code project.
The 3D viewer was developed by The Virtual Cuneiform Tablet Reconstruction (VCTR) Project, an international collaboration inspired by the ambition to support virtual access to 3D cuneiform artifacts and to reconstruct cuneiform tablets by joining virtual fragments. The first prototype of the 3D viewer was demonstrated and published in 2017.
The first 3D models used to integrate and test the 3D viewer were acquired and uploaded to the CDLI courtesy of National Museums Liverpool (World Museum):
The 3D viewer VCTR Project team members are: Erlend Gehlken (Universität Frankfurt, Germany), Tim Collins (Manchester Metropolitan University, UK), Sandra Woolley (Keele University, UK) and Eugene Ch’ng (Nottingham Ningbo, China). The team gratefully acknowledge the support of Dr Ashley Cooke, Lead Curator of Antiquities, National Museums Liverpool.
The 2021 Google Summer of Code (GSoC) intern was Mustafa Dhar. Mentors were Sandra Woolley and Tim Collins, and the CDLI GSoC Framework Update Project was led by Émilie Pagé-Perron.
